Moderne:

The goal of contemporary dance is to create a technically strong dancer with a personal expression! Through a solid technical warm-up with focus on strength, flexibility, balance, breathing, weight shift, level shift, and the use of the natural gravity, we work our way to build up a strong body, with a solid center.
The technical inspiration comes from dancers such as Isadora Duncan, Martha Graham, Merce Cunningham, Jose Limon, and from knowledge of the anatomy of the human body.
In the choreography I aim to express all the human emotions, which can be done through both flowing and soft movements, or harsh and aggressive movements.
Each student has her/his advantages and weaknesses, but all in all I strive towards a dance lesson that is as giving as possible for each dancer.

Jazz:

Jazz dance is a style that covers many genres. The lyrical jazz, with elements of ballet and contemporary, the grounded jazz, with its funky look, and the more show influenced jazz as seen in musicals. In class, we practice the traditional jazz techniques, and experiment with the different genres in the different choreographies.
The technique and personal expression are the foundations of the class. Isolations, pas de bourres, pirouettes, fan kicks, kick ball change and jumps are some of the standard exercises/steps. Through an energetic warm-up, we prepare and strengthen the body, and the technique is trained in various exercises on the floor. Finally, it all comes together with the personal expression in our choreography.
Each student has her/his advantages and weaknesses, but all in all I strive towards a dance lesson that is as giving as possible for each dancer.
